My Own Little Tribute to Whitney Houston

I'll skip posting snapshots this time to pay tribute to my idol.

It's been a year since Whitney Houston passed away. She is the best singer in the world for me. I listen to her songs every day. I watch her videos on YouTube every day. I started listening to her songs as a kid. I would sing along too. I think that's how I learned how to sing. Of course, I also listen to other singers. But there's something special about her voice that makes me want to play her songs over and over again.

I will never forget the day I heard the news that she had passed. I was about to wake up then and get up on my bed when I heard it over the radio. Immediately, I got up and checked the internet. Her death was all over the internet. It was a very sad day.

When remembering Whitney, I think of her glorious days. Her personal struggles are beyond me. Everyone has personal struggles. She was no different. True fans will remember her as a beautiful person, someone gifted with a voice that continues to touch the heart of millions.

Although my singing isn't remarkable, I managed to do covers of her songs. The following are my little tributes to her.

I find this song difficult to sing no matter what key I sing it in. Its true meaning keeps resonating even today. Everyone should learn to love themselves.

The Greatest Love of All

I Learned from the Best is one my favorite Whitney songs. It's about leaving a troublesome relationship and learning from it and becoming a better, wiser person.

I Learned from the Best

One of Whitney's comeback songs didn't receive as much love as her earlier works. I'd be glad if someone tells me I'm wrong. I Didn't Know My Own Strength is a lyrically powerful song that talks about finding one's inner courage after hitting the bottom. This song can inspire a lot of people who are fighting their own battles.

I Didn't Know My Own Strength

Another hot track that didn't receive much love. I covered this out of impulse. Well, all my covers are like done out of the blue.

My Love Is Your Love is my favorite Whitney Houston album. I love her 80s tracks, but her MYLIYL album had songs with urban vibe and stronger lyrics. Her artistry was highlighted on that album, I guess.

My Love Is Your Love

The next best thing would have to be The Preacher's Wife album, and one of my favorite tracks there is I Believe in You and Me. The lyrics speak for the song.

You'll Never Stand Alone was never released commercially. This is another unpopular yet meaningful song.

My favorite track from The Preacher's Wife. The lyrics will tell you why.
